The Clever Wealthy Man and the Smart Farmer

The Clever Wealthy Man and the Smart Farmer

A cunning and clever wealthy man reached a farmer in a village and offered him a partnership, saying: "The money will be mine and the labor yours! But when the crop is ready, the part that remains inside the ground will be yours while the entire upper part will be mine." (He used this cunningness because there are roots in the ground which would fall into the share of this foolish farmer, and the actual value belongs to the upper part, which he would take away). Anyway, the farmer thought for a while and accepted the offer. When the crop was ready, the clever wealthy man came to collect his share and held his head upon seeing that the farmer had sown an onion crop. Therefore, according to the agreement, the onions came to the farmer's share and the worthless upper leaves went to the wealthy man. Instead of learning a lesson and refraining, the clever wealthy man thought of playing another trick and offered partnership to the farmer once again, but this time he set a condition that the part of the crop inside the ground would be mine and the upper part yours! The farmer accepted this condition. When the crop was ready and the clever wealthy man came to collect his share, he was dumbfounded to see that the farmer had grown sugarcane, whose useless roots fell to his share and the valuable sugarcane went to the farmer. Even after suffering losses due to his cunningness twice at the hands of the farmer's wisdom, the wealthy man still did not accept defeat. To settle the entire score, he gave money to the farmer for the next crop and said: "I have been at a loss twice, so this time the lower and upper parts of the crop will be mine, and whatever is in the middle will be yours." This time when the crop was ready, the clever wealthy man reached the fields happily thinking that this time the benefit would only be his. But upon reaching the fields, the color of his face changed because the farmer had grown corn (cobs) this time, whose lower and topmost parts are worthless and the actual value belongs to the cob present in the middle. Thus, the farmer's wisdom defeated the wealthy man's cunningness. Dear brothers! Intellect is a very big blessing given by Allah Almighty. Now it depends on man whether he uses intellect positively or negatively! In wisdom or in cunningness! 🖋🌹💠 Adopted from: Sabaq Amoz Kahaniyan (Moral Stories) 💠🌹🖋
