It is the belief of our Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jama'at that Allah creates the Prophet from clay (dust) and Allah creates the follower (Ummah) from clay as well, but there is a difference between the clay of a follower and a Prophet. Allah creates the follower from earthly clay, whereas He creates the Prophet from heavenly clay. And the Prophet of Prophets (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) was created from that clay which belongs to Jannat-ul-Firdaus. The difference between a Prophet and a follower is the same as the difference between earthly clay and heavenly clay. The difference between the Prophet of Prophets and a Prophet is the same as the difference between Heaven (Jannat) and Jannat-ul-Firdaus. Your clay and mine belongs to the earth; from Hazrat Adam to Isa (peace be upon them), the clay belongs to Heaven. The clay of the Prophet of Prophets belongs to Jannat-ul-Firdaus, peace and blessings be upon him. This is why the people of innovation (Ahl-e-Bid'at) disagreed with us. They did not understand our stance from us; they simply said that the people of Deoband say the Prophet is made of clay, the Prophet is a human (Bashar), and they became furious.
