If it is written on some tent "The Tent of Layla," but when one peeps inside, a dog is tied there, then that tent will lose its value; rather, people will make fun of it. Similarly, a Mawlvi (religious scholar) is one who belongs to Mawla (Allah). From the tent of his litter (abode), the fragrance of Mawla should be found—meaning, in his company, the fragrance of Allah's love should be felt; from his company, love for Allah should be born and love for the world should leave the heart. Accordingly, the scholars who belong to Allah, the whole world becomes intoxicated by their fragrance. It is through such God-conscious scholars that religion has spread, and all our elders are examples of this. However, those scholars who remain indifferent to the people of Allah and do not efface their own ego, and the public comes to them considering them men of God, but when they see that in their tent, the dog of love for the world (Hubb-e-Dunya) and love for status (Hubb-e-Jah) is tied and Mawla is absent, they become highly disappointed. Nowadays, the lack of respect for the people of knowledge is due to this very reason; otherwise, the creation is still devoted even today to those scholars who have been blessed with the company of the friends of Allah.

The Signs of Beneficial Knowledge

The Signs of Beneficial Knowledge

A question arises in the mind: What is the sign of beneficial knowledge? Yes, there is indeed knowledge that brings benefit. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us a supplication: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit." Accordingly, there are two signs of beneficial knowledge. The First Sign: The servant is granted the ability (Tawfeeq) to act upon this knowledge. Once, Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Shafi Sahib (RA) asked the students, "Tell me, what is the meaning of knowledge?" They kept offering answers like knowing, recognizing, etc. Hazrat remained silent. Finally, a student said, "Hazrat, please tell us yourself." He replied: "Knowledge is that light after attaining which one cannot find peace without acting upon it. If this is the state of the heart, then the knowledge is beneficial. Without action, a person finds no restlessness; if they happen to commit a sin, they find no peace until they weep and beg Allah for forgiveness—there is a fire burning inside." The Second Sign: A sense of awe and reverence increases within the human heart: "Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge." (Surah Fatir) See, the glorious Quran has given the sign: indeed, among the servants of Allah, it is those with knowledge who fear Him. Humility, awe, and fear increase in a person's heart. Imam Ghazali (RA) states: "The great scholar is the one to whom the harms of sins become more apparent. The clearer the damages of sins become to him, the further back he will draw away from them." ___📝📝📝___ Book: Impactful Advices for Students (Talaba ke liye Asar Angeez Nasaihh) Page Number: 351 - 352 Author: Hazrat Maulana Huzaifah bin Ghulam Muhammad Vastanvi
