Chief Minister's convoy's diesel dispute in Ratlam: 19 vehicles stopped due to water mixture, petrol pump sealed

Incident details: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was scheduled to inaugurate the “MP Rise 2025” conclave in Ratlam on Friday, June 27, 2025. For this, a convoy of 19 Innova vehicles left for Ratlam from Indore on Thursday night. On the way, the vehicles of the convoy were refueled with diesel at the Shakti Fuels petrol pump run by Bharat Petroleum near Dosi village. But after driving a few kilometers, one by one, all the vehicles came to a screeching halt. Initially, it was considered a technical fault, but when the fuel tanks of the vehicles were opened and checked, it was shockingly revealed that the diesel contained a large amount of water. A driver, Shubham Verma, said: “We had refueled over 350 litres of diesel from the petrol pump. When the vehicles started to stop, we asked the pump staff, but they denied any fault in the fuel. It was later discovered that about half of the diesel was mixed with water.” Meanwhile, a truck that had filled 200 liters of diesel from the same pump also stopped on the highway, raising further questions about the quality of the pump’s fuel. Immediate action by the administration: This The incident took place around 10 pm. On receiving information, Deputy Tehsildar Ashish Upadhyay, Food and Supplies Department officer Anand Gole, and other officials reached the spot. On opening the tanks of the vehicles, it was found that 10 litres of water was present out of the 20 litres of diesel filled in each vehicle. The administration immediately sealed the petrol pump and sent the fuel samples for laboratory testing. Food and Supplies Department officer Anand Gole said: “We are checking the exact quantity of water in the diesel. We are investigating the stock of the pump and will submit a detailed report to the Ratlam collector.” Bharat Petroleum Regional Manager Shridhar was also summoned, who claimed that water had leaked into the pump tank due to recent rains. However, the administration is looking at it as a possible reason and is waiting for the technical examination for the final result. Impact on CM’s programme: The incident has created a stir in the administration. Due to the halting of the convoy vehicles, replacement vehicles were immediately ordered from Indore to continue the Chief Minister's program. There should be no disruption to the “MP Rise 2025” conclave. The conclave is being held to promote industrial development, skill development, and employment opportunities in the province, in which the Chief Minister will inaugurate industrial projects, disburse loans, and launch a job fair. Public reaction and questions: The incident also created a huge stir on social media. Several users on X called it the result of administrative failure and corruption. One user wrote: “This is not just negligence, but the work of crocodiles of corruption that have infiltrated the system. When the Chief Minister’s convoy is not safe, what will happen to the common man?” Another user said that the incident points to serious issues in security and quality control. Conclusion: The Ratlam incident is not just a story of a technical glitch but also exposes the flaws in the administration and fuel supply system. While Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for “MP Rise 2025” with new ambitions for industrial development, such incidents cast a question mark on the government’s claims. The results of testing fuel samples from petrol pumps suggest that The real reason for the incident will come out, but for now this incident is a lesson to the public and the administration that there should be no compromise on security and quality.
