A Rare Example of Loyalty to Scholars...

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh (may Allah preserve him), performed Hajj on behalf of Imam Ibn Hazm, Hafiz Ibn Abd al-Barr, Imam Mundhiri, Imam Nawawi, and Hafiz Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on them). The Sheikh says, "I have benefited greatly from the books of these Imams; I consider them my benefactors."

----

It was engraved on the ring of Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him): "Al-Wafau Aziz" — Loyalty is rare.

(Tarikh Dimashq by Ibn Asakir: 45/177)

----

"Finding loyal friends is much harder than making enemies. It takes a moment to make an enemy, but a lifetime passes in the search for a true friend. Whoever finds a loyal friend should hold fast to that friendship!"

(Sheikh Saleh Al-Osaimi, may Allah preserve him)
