*A Matter of Grief and Pain*

He stated: For me, the most grievous and painful matter occurs when I see any evil (Munkar) in religious madrasahs and there is no check or reprimand upon it; it causes severe pain. It feels as if someone has set a fire. How astonishing it is for an evil deed to happen while living in madrasahs! Oh, mistakes do happen, but for there to be no effect even after reprimand—that is the matter of regret, and it is due to this that the heart remains grieved. If someone strikes me with a hundred shoes daily, that is bearable for me, but seeing an evil is not bearable for me. I remain constantly grieved and exercise a lot of self-restraint; for me, this itself is a great struggle (Mujahadah), a very severe struggle. I think that when there is no concern for these matters in religious madrasahs and evils are not condemned, then where else will it be?

Today, when I arrived in the morning, I saw that a bright bulb was turned on and people were sleeping. What is the need to keep such a high-intensity bulb burning? If such a large bulb were installed in the courtyard of the madrasah, the entire madrasah would be illuminated. Seeing these kinds of evils causes me severe pain.
