Upbringing of Youth: Shariah vs. Societal Traditions

Upbringing of Youth: Shariah vs. Societal Traditions

How many men are there who were taught the exegesis (Tafseer) of "Surah Al-Ma'idah" as soon as they reached maturity, and how many women are there who were taught the Tafseer of "Surah An-Nur" upon reaching maturity? I know, they are very few. But look at the other side...! How many men have heard from their parents after reaching maturity, "I don't want to hear any inappropriate news about you," and how many women have heard from their parents after reaching maturity, "Protect our family's honor, I don't want to hear any inappropriate things from you"? I know this number is quite high. Because "Shariah" is not taught here; instead, lessons on saving the "honor" and "sanctity" of the parents and family are given. They aren't even made to understand that "You are precious... protect yourself." Instead, a strict eye is kept on them as soon as they reach maturity. At a time when emotional attachment has a very deep impact on a human being, an attempt is made to bind the free bird with ropes. And those birds, seeking love, with young blood running through their veins, try their strength; then the rope breaks, and sometimes it even becomes a noose around the neck. If we had kept our children and ourselves within the fortress of "Hablullah" (the rope of Allah), i.e., the Quran, this would never have happened because that rope is very strong—it connects hearts, connects relationships, and guides towards the straight path (Sirat-al-Mustaqeem). Teach Shariah to your growing children. Teach Surah Al-Ma'idah to the son and Surah An-Nur to the daughter. Tell them that if this time is spent for the sake of Allah Almighty, the future will be very beautiful. Tell them that they have the best halal options available and they do not need to waste their emotions in haram relationships. Tell them that we will together make the best decision for you, which will be good for you and in which your happiness lies. Tell them that haram destroys the pleasure of halal. Rights and duties are not just about imposing one's will, nor is upbringing (Tarbiyat) merely a matter of reciting two or three commandments. The biggest problem with this system is that parents do not fulfill their own desires; their desires are tied to their children. ("I raised you for so many years, do I not have the right to bring a daughter-in-law of my choice or choose a son-in-law of my choice?") They don't make decisions about their own lives (their parents did it for them), so they want to decide their children's lives. They want a daughter-in-law of their standard or a son-in-law of their choice... the children's preference doesn't matter. This cycle will continue like this... and the string of no one's life will be in their own hands. These fake ropes will keep being made and broken. But we will not hold onto "Hablullah", because to hold onto it, many things have to be left behind. Such as "the obsolete traditions of society" which have destroyed our souls. Either please your society or Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala...!!!
