The INDIA alliance staged a massive show of strength at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby, and National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah launched a scathing attack on the Modi government and the Election Commission, calling for unity to safeguard democracy, the Constitution, and voting rights.
Kharge: "We Will Not Rest Until Gyanesh Kumar Resigns"
Launching a direct attack on the Chief Election Commissioner, Kharge alleged that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were attempting to disenfranchise youth, women, and Dalits. "They are using Gyanesh Kumar to delete legitimate voters from the rolls. We have gathered here specifically to demand his removal. No matter what efforts Narendra Modi makes, our fight will continue until Gyanesh Kumar steps down," Kharge declared.
Tejashwi Yadav: "A Battle Between Voters and Cheaters"
Targeting the BJP and the RSS, Tejashwi Yadav remarked that those who played no role in the freedom struggle are today handing out certificates of patriotism and attempting to decide who gets to vote. He framed the ongoing political conflict as a battle between honest voters and "cheaters" manipulating the electoral system.
M.A. Baby: "Modi is the Maharaja of Untruths"
CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby labeled the Prime Minister as the "Maharaja of Untruths," accusing the government of misleading women and farmers alike. He emphasized that fascism will not be tolerated in the country and called for a collective struggle to prevent vote tampering and protect constitutional integrity.
Farooq Abdullah: "No Indian Should Be Deprived of the Right to Vote"
Farooq Abdullah asserted that every resident of the country is an Indian and equal before the Constitution. He stressed that the joint struggle is necessary to ensure that no citizen is deprived of their fundamental right to vote. He added that the nation cannot grow strong if any region lags behind, affirming that "Jammu & Kashmir was part of India yesterday and will remain so forever."
