A Silent lesson

A Silent lesson

At a wedding ceremony, a gentleman approached a man he knew and asked, "Do you recognize me?" The man looked at him closely and replied, "Yes, you are my student from primary school. What are you doing these days?" The student answered, "I am also a school teacher, just like you. And the desire to become a teacher was born in me solely because of you." The teacher asked in surprise, "How so?" The student replied, "Do you remember that once in class, a boy's very beautiful watch was stolen, and I was the one who stole it? You told the whole class that whoever stole the watch must return it. I wanted to give it back, but I couldn't muster up the courage to avoid embarrassment. You then ordered the entire class to face the wall and stand with their eyes closed. You searched everyone's pockets, took the watch out of my pocket, and returned it to its owner without ever taking my name. You never made me feel ashamed of that act. From that very day, I resolved to become a teacher." The teacher smiled and said, "The story actually goes like this: during the search, I had closed my eyes as well. Even I found out today that it was you who had stolen that watch!" Can we become such teachers who inspire children through our actions to become teachers themselves, rather than shaming them in front of the whole class over small mistakes?
