*Hadhrat Maulana Yusuf Kandhlawi (Rahimahullah) used to say:* The spiritual power of a caller (Da'ee) lies in five things: 1. *Use of Miswak* – which brings light to the heart along with cleansing the mouth. 2. *Recitation of the Holy Qur'an from the Mushaf (Holy Book)* – because looking at the words with the eyes and reading them affects the heart. 3. *Always remaining with Wudu (ablution)* – purity gives cleanliness to the heart and mind. 4. *Observing Tahajjud prayer* – which connects the servant with Allah in the silence of the night. 5. *Guarding the gaze* – which protects the heart from sins and fills faith with light (Noor). Maulana (Rahimahullah) states: *The one who kept his gaze under control will taste the sweetness of faith, and light (Noor) will be created in his heart.* And if the gaze is not guarded, there will be five major losses: 1. *Deprivation from the first Takbeer (Takbeer-e-Oola) of prayer.* 2. *Snatching away of the divine ability (Taufiq) for Tahajjud prayer.* 3. *The end of blessings (Barakah) from sustenance (Rizq).* 4. *Forgetting the Qur'an and supplications (Duas).* 5. *An increased risk of death without faith.*
