Islamic History Episode No. 9 Hazrat Idris (Alaihissalam) Hazrat Idris (Alaihissalam) is a famous Prophet. He was born in the city of Babylon approximately one hundred years after the passing of Hazrat Adam (Alaihissalam) and one thousand years before Hazrat Nuh (Alaihissalam). He acquired knowledge from Hazrat Sheeth (Alaihissalam). Hazrat Idris (Alaihissalam) is the inventor and founder of astronomy, arithmetic, sewing, weights and measures, weapon making, and the art of writing and books. Many languages were spoken during his era; Allah Almighty taught him all the languages, so he used to converse with people in their own language. In the Holy Quran, he is mentioned as a very truthful and patient Prophet. He was granted a high status of closeness to Divine proximity. Historians have described his character as serious in conversation and quiet by nature; he kept his gaze on the ground while walking and repeatedly signaled with his index finger while talking. He spent his entire life in dawah (preaching) and propagation of Islam.

The Status of Women Before and After Islam

The Status of Women Before and After Islam

Greeks say that a woman is more dangerous than a snake. Socrates said that there is nothing in the world that causes more chaos and corruption than a woman. Bona Wittier said that a woman is like a scorpion that is always ready to sting. John said that a woman is the daughter of evil and an enemy of peace and safety. According to the teachings of the Roman Catholic sect, a woman cannot touch the Holy Scripture and is not allowed to enter the church. In the greatest Christian empire, Rome (Romatal Kubra), the condition of women was worse than that of slaves; they were made to work like animals. Europe's bravest woman, Joan of Arc, was burnt alive. Among the Arabs during the Era of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), women were deeply humiliated in poetry, and they used to bury girls alive upon their birth. But the Benefactor of Humanity, the Mercy to the Worlds, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) bestowed upon women a status that has not been achieved in any religion to this day. Now, if a woman is a mother, paradise lies under her feet; if she is a daughter, she is a means of forgiveness; if she is a wife, she is a means of completing one's faith; if she is a sister, she is a symbol of honor...
