The First Night of Marriage... and the Poet ________________________ How can I tell you what happened on the wedding night? The ghost of poetry was riding high upon my mind! On one side, poetic verses were being composed, While on the other side, the bride lay fast asleep. I was speaking only in the strict meters of poetry, Stepping a few paces ahead of even my own master. I got so entangled in fixing a poetic line that dawn broke, And the darkness vanished away from my eyes. Getting up from the bed, the bride finally spoke, "To hell with this poetry of yours!" "Fa'ilatun... Fa'ilatun... Fa'ilat..." Chanting this, she kicked me right out of bed! "The entire night you just kept on composing verses, And all the desires of my heart washed away in tears!"

The Reward for Serving Parents

The Reward for Serving Parents

An orphan child of Bani Israel used to do every task after asking his mother and according to her will. He had raised a beautiful cow and remained busy taking care of it all the time. Once, an angel appeared before this child in human form and expressed the intention to buy the cow. When the child asked for the price, the angel offered a very low price. When the child informed his mother, she refused. The angel kept increasing the price every time, and the child kept replying after asking his mother each time. When this happened several times, the child felt that his mother was not willing to sell the cow, so he flatly refused the angel, saying that the cow could not be sold at any price. The angel said, "You are very fortunate and lucky that you do everything after asking your mother. Soon, some people will come to you to buy this cow, so you must demand a very hefty price for this cow." On the other side, an incident of a man's murder occurred among the Bani Israel, and the cow they were commanded to sacrifice was the cow of this very child. Accordingly, when the people of Bani Israel came to this child to buy the cow, the child said that the price of this cow is equal to paying gold equivalent to its weight. The people of Bani Israel bought the cow by paying such a hefty price. It is written in Tafseer-e-Azeezi and Tafseer Maalim al-Irfan fi Daroos al-Quran that this child received this wealth because of his respect and obedience to his parents. A similar incident is also narrated in Tafseer al-Tabari. From this, it becomes known that some reward for serving and respecting parents is given in this world as well. Copied/Narrated.
