A song has recently been played: “Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai, Yaara, Main Kya Karoon? Sajde Sar Jhukta Hai, Yaara, Main Kya Karoon?” (I see God in you, my beloved, what should I do? My head bows in prostration, my beloved, what should I do?) What is the ruling on singing and listening to this song? Does it necessarily entail disbelief (Kufr), etc.?

While answering this question, Hazrat-e-Aqdas Maulana Mufti Ahmad Sahib Khanpuri writes that there is a detailed explanation regarding this matter. If the person singing knows that this is an act of disbelief (Kufr), yet still sings it, whether he sings it for entertainment, amusement, or jokingly, or sings it sincerely, in both cases he leaves the fold of Islam.

If he sings it due to compulsion and coercion, or by mistake, then he does not leave the fold of Islam.

And if, due to his ignorance, he does not know that this is an act of disbelief and sings it of his own free will, then there is a difference of opinion regarding whether he becomes a disbeliever.

It is stated in Mala Budda Minhu: If an ignorant person utters a word of disbelief and does not know that it is a word of disbelief, some scholars say that he will not become a disbeliever and that ignorance is an excuse, while other scholars say that he will become a disbeliever and that ignorance is not an excuse.

Therefore, in cases where, according to the unanimous opinion of the scholars, a person becomes a disbeliever and there is no difference of opinion regarding his disbelief, all his deeds become invalid, and his marriage contract (Nikah) is also dissolved. It is necessary for him to repent, recite the Kalimah again to re-enter Islam, and solemnize his Nikah anew.

And in cases where there is a difference of opinion regarding his disbelief, he should repent, seek forgiveness, and renew his Nikah.

“In cases where disbelief is unanimously established, deeds and the marriage contract become invalid; and in cases where there is a difference of opinion, the person is instructed to seek forgiveness, repent, and renew the marriage contract.”

The Greatness of the Creator

The Greatness of the Creator

Pure is that Being Who has decided to annihilate all creation. From this perspective, kings and slaves are all equal before Him. He kept only Himself unique with eternity, and maintained Himself as one in primal existence. He used His powers in the world and elsewhere as He willed. The neediness of everyone became evident before Him, whether someone was righteous or wicked, misguided or rightly guided. يَسْاَلُهُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأْنٍ (Surah Ar-Rahman: 29) Translation: All those who are in the heavens and the earth ask of Him; every day He is in a state of glory. He is immensely Generous; His bounty has covered everyone. Where can this sinner flee? Who will compensate for the one who has lost the way? How many times has destiny contended with the guarantor? To how many rejected people has He granted the guidance (tawfeeq) to be present in His court? How negligent has fate made the sinners in human destiny—among them, someone became unfortunate and someone became fortunate. Translation: (1) If sixty-one years were to pass over even a stone, it would be counted as a worn-out stone. (2) The soul hopes to achieve many aspirations, as if it does not see what destiny is going to do. _________________________________________________ Book: Ansuon Ka Samandar (The Ocean of Tears) (Page Number: 193) Author: Imam Ibn al-Jawzi (May Allah have mercy on him) Translator: Maulana Mufti Imdadullah Anwar Sahab
