🕋 Turn your gaze away from the faults of people and do not neglect to hold your own self accountable 🕋

Hazrat Sayyid Ahmad Rifa'i (Rahmatullahi Alaih) stated:

Turn your gaze away even from the honor of people, let alone bad deeds, because as you sow, so shall you reap. If you have one eye, others have many eyes. As you are yourself, so shall be the officer (ruler) over you. Restrain your tongue from speaking ill of the creation, because if you have one tongue, the creation has many tongues. It is enough for you to look into your own faults. Just as you say regarding others, so will they say regarding you. Take account of your self (of actions) every day, seek forgiveness from Allah abundantly, and become the physician and guide of your own self. Because unless you yourself worry about your self-reformation and desire the straight path, no spiritual guide or spiritual physician can do anything. Do not neglect to take account of your self and avoid indulging in the pleasures of the self (carnal desires).
