*Crocodile Tears...* This idiom is very famous in the Urdu language, but I had never really thought about it before. Today, I read about it somewhere and thought I should share its background with you. It is said that when a crocodile ruthlessly pushes its prey down its throat, it faces difficulty swallowing due to the narrow passage. As the pressure on its throat increases, its tears flow out. It is also believed that after dragging its prey into the water and eating it, the crocodile comes out onto dry land and sheds tears, which is beneficial for its digestion. Therefore, crocodile tears are not born out of any feeling of sympathy; rather, these tears are the result of a major incident (of hunting). Some people who express sympathy for you are actually the very ones causing you pain. That is why their weeping is referred to as "crocodile tears."
