An Arab customer came. I generated his bill, packed his items in a plastic bag, and handed it over to him with great respect. Being pleased, he began to pray for me:
“اَللہُ یَتَزَوَّجَکَ مَن لَّا یُصَلِّی وَلَا یَصُوْمُ!”
"May Allah marry you to someone who neither prays (Namaz) nor fasts (Roza)!"
I was stunned. What a strange prayer it was!
The very next moment he said, "Say Ameen, say Ameen!"
I fell into confusion. "What kind of prayer is this?" I asked in astonishment.
He smiled, held my hand, and gently said, "First say Ameen, then I will explain!"
Composing myself, I said, "I am married, and I didn't particularly like this prayer!"
He laughed, "You will like it, my brother, just say Ameen!"
Seeing his insistence, I said, "Ameen!"
Then he came close and whispered:
“حُورُ الْجَنَّةِ، لَا تُصَلِّی وَلَا تَصُوْمُ!”
"The Houri of Paradise neither prays nor fasts!"
Once I understood the meaning, every single cell of my being shouted Ameen!
