June 16, 2025, Lucknow: A Saudi Airlines Hajj flight from Jeddah narrowly avoided a major accident while landing at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow. Smoke and sparks started coming out of the landing gear, but the ground staff and firefighting team took immediate action and brought the situation under control. Incident Details The flight arrived in Lucknow on Sunday morning with 250 pilgrims. Smoke and sparks started coming out of the landing gear tires due to hydraulic oil leakage during landing. The pilot immediately informed the air traffic control and stopped the plane. The airport authority safely deplaned all the passengers. Other flights are operating as usual. This incident came after the recent Ahmedabad plane crash (June 12, 2025), where 278 people were killed. As a result, a major tragedy was averted due to the prompt response. Security measures at airports need to be tightened further to avoid such incidents in the future.
