June 16, 2025, Pune A sudden fire broke out in a coach of a demo passenger train coming from Daund in Pune, Maharashtra this morning, causing chaos among the passengers. Railway authorities took immediate action to control the fire and ordered an investigation. Details of the incident At around 8 am, smoke started rising in a coach of the train near Yuvat village. According to a railway spokesperson, a passenger threw a beedi in a dustbin near the coach, which ignited the garbage and spread the fire. The passengers immediately informed the station master and the RPF. Before the arrival of the fire brigade, the coach was filled with smoke. A passenger was stuck in the toilet, who was pulled out by breaking the door. The affected coach was separated and the train was sent towards its destination. All the passengers are safe. The person who threw the beedi was taken into custody by the RPF. The Daund Railway Police have registered a case and started an investigation. Result: A major accident was averted due to the prompt response. The railways need to tighten safety measures and increase public awareness to avoid such incidents in the future.
