FASTag Annual Pass: Nitin Gadkari's revolutionary announcement

Announcement details: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that a FASTag-based annual pass worth Rs 3,000 will be implemented from August 15, 2025. The pass will be valid for one year from the date of its activation or for 200 journeys, whichever is earlier. Gadkari said: “This pass is specially designed for non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans, which will facilitate seamless travel on national highways for citizens.” He wrote in his ex-post: “In a historic move, a FASTag annual pass worth Rs 3,000 is being launched from August 15, 2025. This pass is designed for non-commercial private vehicles and will be valid for one year or 200 journeys. This will ensure seamless travel on national highways across the country.” Application Procedure: Gadkari further said that a separate link will soon be provided on the Highway Travel App and the websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to activate and renew the annual pass. This will make the application process easy and transparent. He said: “Our endeavour is to make the application process easy and transparent through digital platforms. “The citizens should be provided maximum convenience.” Solution to 60 km problems: This policy also addresses the long-standing complaint that citizens are inconvenienced by repeated payments at toll plazas located within a 60 km radius. Gadkari said that this annual pass will simplify toll payment through a single transaction, which will not only save time but also eliminate disputes at toll plazas. He wrote: “This policy is committed to offering a faster, easier, and better travel experience to millions of private vehicle owners.” Conclusion: This announcement by Nitin Gadkari heralds a revolution in India’s road travel system. The annual FASTag pass of Rs 3,000 will not only be a source of financial savings for private vehicle owners but will also make travel on national highways more organized and hassle-free. This move will reduce congestion and disputes at toll plazas, and provide a better travel experience to citizens.
