A heart-wrenching accident on the Goola-Rajrappa road in Ramgarh has created a sensation. On Monday night, a runaway Bolero vehicle ran over the people of the Santhali community who were busy celebrating the Sohra festival. Two women and two innocent children lost their lives in the accident, while more than a dozen people were injured. The incident took place when the Bolero vehicle was stolen by a thief and was fleeing from the Rajrappa police station. The high speed of the vehicle turned the houses of the Santhali community into a place of mourning. Among those killed are Dhumma Manjhi's wife, Muniya Devi (45 years), her daughter-in-law Bilas Devi, grandson Niranjan Manjhi, and Sanjay Manjhi's daughter, Roshni Kumari (12 years). Dance of death in the accident The severity of the accident can be gauged from the fact that members of the same family and women celebrating the festival also fell victim to it. The injured include Panchami Kumari (15 years), Veena Devi (18 years), Parvati Kumari, Basanti Devi, Surajmuni Kumari, and others. All the injured were first taken to the hospital in Goula, where after initial treatment they were shifted to the Sadar Hospital in Ramgarh. Villagers burn in the fire of anger Accident After the incident, the anger of the local villagers reached its peak and the thief and driver of the Bolero, Rahul Bedia, was caught by the villagers and beaten up, which also left him seriously injured. The police intervened and took him to the hospital in Goula, where the doctors, seeing his critical condition, sent him to the Sadar Hospital in Ramgarh. Road Block and Compensation Announcement The villagers, in grief and anger, completely blocked the Goula-Rajrappa road. BDO Sudha Verma, CO Samresh Singh Bhandari, and Inspector Rajesh Kumar reached the spot and assured the angry villagers of compensation. The road remained blocked for a long time and the bodies were lying at the spot.
