This spine-chilling incident occurred on May 30 this year in Yadav Colony, Shikohabad, Firozabad. The accused, Viraj alias Jitendra Pathak, a resident of Budaun, mercilessly murdered his own one-and-a-half-year-old nephew, Aarav, by repeatedly slamming him on the road. This inhuman act shook the entire area and the state. There was immense public outrage, following which the police took swift action and immediately arrested the accused.
Court Proceedings and Verdict
According to Government Counsel Rajiv Priyadarshi, due to the rapid police investigation, the trial of the case also progressed at rocket speed.
The prosecution presented a total of 13 crucial witnesses in court, who placed all concrete evidence before the judge.
In contrast, the defense could only present a single witness.
On Friday at around 2:30 PM, the accused was produced in court amidst tight security. After thoroughly examining the testimonies of all the witnesses and the available records, the District Judge convicted the accused Viraj and pronounced the strictest possible sentence—the death penalty.
Killer started beating himself upon hearing the sentence
Advocate Rajiv Priyadarshi stated that as soon as the District Judge pronounced the death sentence, the accused Viraj alias Jitendra Pathak started slapping himself right inside the dock.
