Incident Details: A heartbreaking incident took place on the evening of July 14, 2025 near Khaireshwar Ghat in Shivrajpur, Kanpur. Thousands of devotees had gathered for darshan at Khaireshwar Mahadev Temple, where police, scouts, and volunteers were deployed to manage the crowd during the Kavar Savar. Meanwhile, a devotee slipped and fell on Ganga Road, after which some people alleged that he fell due to the police baton. This allegation incited the anger of the crowd, and the agitated people attacked a scout and a soldier. This fire of anger did not stop here. A crowd of about 80 to 90 people reached Shivrajpur police station and started creating a ruckus there. It is alleged that the mob barged inside the police station and not only verbally abused the sub-inspector and other officials, but also scuffled and abused them. Some miscreants broke the windows of the police station, which further escalated the situation. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, based on which the police started action. Police action: With the help of CCTV footage, the police registered a case against 20 named and 12 unknown persons. The five accused were arrested and sent to jail. Police officials said that the injured devotee was immediately shifted to the hospital, and initial investigation revealed that he slipped and fell on his own. The police explained that some miscreants started an argument with the scouts and home guards who came to help, after which the incident reached the police station. A senior police officer said: “This incident unfortunately happened due to miscreants. We have identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage and legal action is underway.” A note against Hindutva organisations: This incident once again reveals the bitter truth about how Hindutva elements are at the forefront of spoiling the atmosphere of the country. On one hand, Muslims are defamed every day, they are called terrorists and enemies of peace, but on the other hand, these Hindutva groups are destroying the peace and order of the country with their mischief and lawlessness. These people have made violence, riots and violation of law their motto in the name of religious devotion. Isn't it time that every citizen of the country understands this double standard? And raise your voice against those elements who are spreading hatred and chaos in the name of religion? This news not only reflects an incident but also points to the social injustice where one class is constantly targeted while the lawlessness of another class is ignored. It is time for us all to fight against this prejudice together and rise as one voice to restore peace and order in the country. Source: The Hindu: Indian Express: Times of India: X-Posts:
