The suicides of coaching students have once again created a sensation in Rajasthan's Kota. Within 24 hours, two students, who were staying in Kota for JEE coaching, were found dead in their rooms. The police have declared both the deaths as suicides. One of the deceased students belonged to Haryana and the other to Madhya Pradesh. The bodies of both of them were recovered from their residential rooms on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. Suicide of Neeraj from Haryana Nineteen-year-old Neeraj Jatt, a resident of Mahendragarh in Haryana, had been coaching for JEE preparation in Kota for two years. His body was found in his hostel room on Tuesday night. Other students became suspicious when the food kept outside Neeraj's room was not picked up for a long time. When they looked through the window, they found Neeraj dead and immediately informed the police. Neeraj's father, Bablu Prajapati, reached Kota and while talking to the media, said that his son could not have committed suicide. They demanded an impartial investigation from the police. However, the police initially called it a case of suicide. Madhya Pradesh Abhishek's death A few hours after Neeraj's death, the body of 20-year-old Abhishek, who was staying in a hostel in Jawahar Nagar police station area on Wednesday afternoon, was found. Abhishek hailed from Guna district of Madhya Pradesh and was also staying in Kota for JEE coaching. Police officer Mukesh Kumar Meena said that the control room was informed about Abhishek's death. The police have also declared it a suicide. Abhishek's parents have reached Kota, and his body is being post-mortem. Student suicide problem in Kota The Kota administration had recently claimed that there was a decrease in suicide incidents in 2024 compared to 2023, and this was credited to the reform measures taken for students. However, two suicides in 24 hours have once again raised questions about the mental state and stress of coaching students in Kota.
